Dutee, Amiya bag duble crowns in state meet

Ace Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand made a successful return to track by clinching a golden double on the last day of the 62nd Odisha State Athletics Championship at Barabati Stadium here today. Dutee took 25.6 seconds to add the 200 metre title to the 100 metre gold she had won on the opening day.

Banned from running in national and international events in August this year for possessing high level of androgen in her body, the 18-year-old sprinter was provisionally allowed to compete in domestic events by Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) earlier this month.

Cuttack emerged overall champions with 533 points, while Sundargarh finished runners-up with 488 points. Bhubaneswar sprinter Amiya Kumar Mallick grabbed both the 100 and 200 meter gold to be adjudged the best athlete of the three-day championship. The championship produced a total of 12 meet records.
